Ben Gerber, MD, MPH - Visiting Professor in South Korea
Date Posted: Tuesday, September 29, 2026Ben Gerber, MD, MPH, is spending the fall semester at Hallym University in South Korea as a visiting professor, where he’ll teach graduate students electronic health record data analysis with R and help strengthen the Hallym-UMass Chan Medical School partnership.
He’ll also explore collaboration in remote patient monitoring, chronic disease management, health data infrastructure, and medical AI, while advising on Hallym’s Medical Artificial Intelligence Talent Development Program. His wife, Rebecca, is accompanying him and hopes to learn from Korean academic libraries and volunteer teaching English locally.
The visit builds on a partnership that began in 2023 and has since grown to include student exchanges, joint research, faculty collaboration, nursing exchanges, and an AI-focused memorandum of understanding.
