Lupus
Several researchers in the Program in Innate Immunity are engaged in Lupus research.
We are currently investigating mechanisms by which the immune system recognizes self-tissues during Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease that involves multiple organ systems of the body and causes severe morbidity.
We are also currently investigating the signals required to direct T cells into the skin during Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus (CLE), which refers to skin-limited or skin involved lupus disease.
