We would like to welcome Kevin Houston, OD, PhD, to our UMass community. Kevin Houston, OD, PhD, joined the Department of Neurology and Ophthalmology as a neurology staff ophthalmologist in January 2023. Dr. Houston specializes in neurological vision rehabilitation therapy, severe brain injuries, and specializes in the Barrett Right Brain Rehabilitation Research program. 

Dr. Houston’s expertise aligns with our mission to further our UMass Chan Medical School academic and research program in Visual and Neuro Rehabilitation. Most recently Kevin Houston, OD, PhD, held a leadership position as the Associate Director of Optometry and Vision Rehabilitation for Massachusetts Eye and Ear in Boston’s Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital from 2016 to 2023. 

Dr. Houston is not intimidated working with individuals with various handicaps and disabilities, as he was encouraged to pursue his medical and research interests due to his sibling impacted by multiple physically disabilities associated with Williams Syndrome.
