Continuing Education in Neurocritical Care

Neurocritical Care Education

Neurology trainees have the opportunity to receive specific focused training in Neurocritical Care to develop expert medical practice skills necessary to evaluate and provide comprehensive patient care to this population. Medical Students can participate in electives in the NeuroTrauma ICU as part of a Neurology or Critical Care curriculum, or through a Flexible Professional Experience. Neurology residents complete a required rotation in their PGY2 year, and are welcome to join at other times for elective experiences. We also offer a UCNS-accredited fellowship in Neurocritical Care (see link below for more information). The NeuroTrauma ICU also hosts Nurse Practitioner students during their clinical rotations, as well as nurse practitioners and physician assistants participating in the Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship.
