Nurse Practitioner Skills Workshop
Date Posted: Tuesday, May 14, 2019
Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing students and preceptors participated in the first Nurse Practitioner Skills Workshop on Saturday, May 11, 2019. The workshop was made possible under the Central MA ANE Academic-Practice Partnership (CMAAPP) grant, D09HP29971. This grant is funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under Advanced Nursing Education Grants.
Based on requests from our CMAAPP Partner Sites and our students, a need to sharpen basic skills and techniques such as reading x-rays, performing dermatology procedures, splinting and immobilization in the primary care setting was identified. In response to the requests, a practical, informative, hands’ on all-day workshop was designed to help both our Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing NP students and some of our CMAAPP preceptors fine-tune their clinical skills. The workshop was well received with 34 attendees. Training was provided by Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing faculty and CMAAPP Partner Site preceptors from our partners at Reliant Medical Group, Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center and Heywood Medical Group.
