Academic Technology

The Academic Technology team at UMass Chan Medical School supports student information systems, teaching and learning technologies, and the innovative instructional design needs of all 3 schools. The systems most used by Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences are identified below. Blackboard

Blackboard is the Learning Management System of UMass Chan.

IT support is available for the building of courses in Blackboard. If you need assistance please reach out to AcademicInstructionalDesignandTechnology@umassmed.edu with an outline of your needs at least 3 months before your class start date.

Canvas

As of August 2025, Canvas is the official academic learning management system of UMass Chan Medical School. If you are new to Canvas, there are training sessions available that cover the key features, including course setup, content management, and essential tools to enhance teaching and learning. You may also request a 1:1 session with an instructional designer via AcademicInstructionalDesignandTechnology@umassmed.edu. Please outline your specific needs and when your course is running.

OASIS

OASIS is a Curriculum Management System that gives 24/7 access to student, course, and calendar/schedule information as well as supports online evaluation of courses, faculty and student performance.
