Much of my passion in medicine was to be a provider for all types of primary care for those underserved in marginalized rural communities, and in that process, I realized that in addition to just primary care, there's a large swath of gender diverse and non-heterosexual people/systems that severely lack resources. Increased rates of transmissible disease, recurrent ostracization from traditional communities, and isolation put these patients at the highest risk. As these people are my countrymen, I wanted to additionally be the physician that can offer care to these populations who need it most."
