O. NSIDINANYA OKIKE, MD, FACS, FACC, FAHA

Ono PhotoO. Nsidinanya Okike, MD is a tenured Professor of Surgery and a distinguished member of our Cardiac Surgery Team. He received his medical degree from the Karl Eberhard University in Tuebingen, Germany. Dr. Okike completed his residency in General Surgery, Cardiovascular Surgery and Thoracic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He also completed a fellowship in Congenital Cardiac Surgery and Laboratory Research at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Okike is certified by the American Board of Surgery and by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. His clinical interests include atrial fibrillation surgery, myocardial revascularization, repairs for valvular heart disease and surgery of the thoracic aorta. Dr. Okike has published over 80 manuscripts and abstracts in peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Okike is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and American College of Chest Physicians. He is also a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and American Association for Thoracic Surgery.

Dr. Okike is a recipient of many awards including The Best Doctors in America, America’s Top Surgeons, Boston Magazine’s Best Doctor List, UMass Memorial Medical Staff Peer Recognition Award, Commonwealth of Massachusetts State Senate Citation for Outstanding Achievement in Medicine and Outstanding Achievement in Medicine Award from Nigerian American Organization.

Dr. Okike is also a member of the UMass Memorial Health Care Board of Trustees.
