Exhibitions

Art Work: Any visual art will be considered; drawings, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media, or multimedia.  All work must be original and ready for exhibition. Wire should be attached to the frame to accommodate the existing hanging system.

Selection of Art to be Included in Exhibit: The CEOD advocacy sub-committee and Library staff will review works submitted by the artist.  Selection decisions are based on the art's appropriateness to the goals of Advancing Belonging Together and space limitations.

Display Area: The Lamar Soutter Library will provide exhibit space.  The exhibition space consists of several running feet of wall space equipped with a hanging display system.

The Exhibiting Artist assisted by Library staff will install and remove the exhibited works (using the Library’s display/hanging system).

Framing: All 2-dimensional work must be able to be hung from the available display/hanging system.  Wire works well as the system has hooks.

Title Cards: The artist will provide a title list of the art to be exhibited.  The artist should provide title cards for art pieces to be displayed next to each piece.

Opening Receptions: On occasion, the library may host opening receptions. You are welcome to have guests visit the exhibit, on an agreeable date and time set by Library staff.  Reception dates are chosen on a day that will not interfere with students’ exam schedules.

Public Relations: The CEOD and the Library may promote the exhibit via internal and external media.

Duration of the Exhibition: Each exhibition lasts for approximately eight to twelve weeks.  The library reserves the right to determine the duration of each exhibition in consultation with the artist.

PLEASE NOTE: The library cannot be responsible for unforeseen disasters.  Please also understand that the Lamar Soutter Library carries no additional insurance for exhibited artwork.  Although security in the building is good, there are no security guards in this space.  The library is accessible to Students, Faculty, and Residents after hours without supervision of library staff.  To further protect the work, artists may want to review their homeowner’s insurance coverage
