The status quo:
Yellow Line

Healthcare providers collect and review a snapshot of our health during relatively brief visits and document information relevant to clinical decision-making and payment. However, there is more information that may affect our health, which is not practical to capture in a short visit. As health researchers our ability to learn from patients' disease progression is limited by the absences of this important data on things that impact and individual's health.

What we study:
Yellow Line

NExUS-Health invites UMass Memorial Health patients with chronic diseases to enroll in a multi-year prospective study. During the study, sensor data from participants’ smart devices will be used to identify signals associated with the need for acute care and other indicators of worsening health status.

How we innovate:
Yellow Line

NExUS-Health empowers participants to:

Bring their own device.

Participants’ own smart devices can be paired with MyDataHelps, a mobile application platform developed by CareEvolution, LLC.

Record symptoms relevant to their chronic conditions.

Participants can log symptoms in the MyDataHelps app and access statistics and trends regarding their symptoms and treatments.

Answer periodic surveys about their chronic conditions.

We will assess patient-reported outcomes that impact quality of life.
