Musculoskeletal Research Faculty

The UMass Musculoskeletal Research Program builds on over 15 years of NIH- and FDA-funded collaboration by our interdisciplinary team. We have extensive experience performing clinical trials for people with musculoskeletal disorders and epidemiological studies. Our team included rheumatologists, athletic trainers, physical therapists, kinesiologists, epidemiologists, and biostatisticians. We have an extensive network of collaborators around the United States (>15 states) and globally (e.g., Australia, France, China, Germany, Norway, Spain, and United Kingdom).

We are the first team to have a qualification plan for an OA-related biomarker accepted by the FDA, positioning us to become the first to submit a final biomarker qualification package required for FDA qualification. We have extensive experience deploying these metrics, demonstrating our ability to complete the measurements on over 10,000 MRIs.
