Dr. Jeroan Allison has been awarded a 5-year NIH P60 award for a UMass Center of Health Equity Intervention Research (CHEIR)

The University of Massachusetts has received a 5-year NIH P60 award for the Center of Health Equity Intervention Research (CHEIR) from the National Institute of Minority Health and Health Disparities. This award, led by Dr. Jeroan Allison as Principal Investigator and Dr. Milagros Rosal as Co-Principal Investigator, is designed to improve the health of socioeconomically disadvantaged and minority populations and reduce health disparities. The center will also build a pipeline for the next generation of health disparity researchers, providing “hands on” research experiences and mentoring to health and behavioral sciences students interested in health disparities. The center represents collaboration between the University of Massachusetts at Boston and the UMass Chan Medical School at Worcester (Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, Department of Family and Community Medicine, the Division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine, Department of Medicine, and the Diversity and Equal Opportunity Office).
