Teaching and Training

Population and Quantitative Health Sciences faculty play an active role in training the next generation of scientists and clinician-researchers and are involved in teaching activities across the campus. 

Masters of Science in Clinical Investigation Program (MSCI)
The MSCI program emphasizes the development of strong clinical investigation skills based on a solid foundation in study design, conduct of observational studies and randomized trials, clinical epidemiology, and biostatistics. The program offers two concentration tracks: population-based clinical research, and bench-to-bedside translational research. Dr. Robert Goldberg, Professor of Epidemiology within the Department of PQHS, is the Director of the MSCI, and teaches several PQHS courses.

Doctoral Program in Population Health Sciences (PHS)
The PHS program offers a PhD that addresses the national need to move health research from laboratory to bedside and from patients to health care systems. Several PQHS faculty members are affiliated with the PHS program and will be increasingly involved in teaching courses and mentoring students, including offering research rotations and serving on dissertation committees.  

Medical Education 
PQHS faculty are also involved in teaching and training medical students at UMass Chan. 

Seminars and Lectures 
In addition to being involved in degree-bearing programs, PQHS faculty also regularly present lectures and seminars across campus, such as Grand Rounds and the Current Topics in Epidemiology and Biostatics Seminar Series. 

Quantitative Methods Core (QMC)/Biostatistics and Epidemiology Research Design (BERD)  -
1st and 3rd Tuesday Methods Workshops
The QMC/BERD will conduct monthly workshops to explore statistical issues of general interest.
