Watch: 2022 news in review at UMass Chan

The year 2022 saw impactful research, a growing campus, student accomplishment, community service and employee appreciation at UMass Chan Medical School.

National headlines were made when UMass Chan research guided FDA recommendations on rapid COVID-19 tests. The research is supported by the National Institutes of Health Acceleration of Diagnostics initiative, or RADx; UMass Chan received $300 million in research grants and funding overall in 2022.

UMass Chan Medical School employees donated $400,000 to the community and more than 750 community service hours through the UMass Chan Cares Volunteer Initiative that launched in February.

Meanwhile, Match Day, Commencement and summer programs for high school and college students returned to campus for the first time since 2019, the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing held its first White Coat Ceremony for advanced practice nursing students and the Diversity and Inclusion Office hosted its first stole ceremony. In August, the new education and research building marked a construction milestone the same day the T.H. Chan School of Medicine at UMass Chan welcomed its largest class, and in December, UMass Chan was named one of The Boston Globe’s Top Places to Work for the first time.
