Undergraduate Medical Education

Electives

We are pleased to offer electives in Gastroenterology for both medical students and residents. This busy inpatient experience exposes the participant to a wide variety of gastrointestinal problems including the complications of liver disease and transplant, gastrointestinal bleeding, inflammatory bowel disease, diseases of the biliary tree and pancreas, as well as many others. The learner will become familiar with the indications for and observe various gastrointestinal procedures including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), deep enteroscopy, as well as diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopies. As an academic medical center, there is a robust lecture series that the elective participant can attend including, journal club, GI grand rounds, radiology conference, GI/Surgery conference, morbidity and mortality conference, and pathology conference.
