Research Postdoctoral Position in Behavioral Health

Fellowship Description

The focus of this 2-year fellowship is behavioral health research in a medical setting and will provide opportunity to work within a thriving academic health care system at the UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester MA. It is designed for trainees interested in developing academic careers in the area of behavioral and preventive medicine. Studies focus on behavioral and mental health issues within a emergency medicine and other healthcare settings, including designing brief interventions for tobacco, alcohol, and drug use; preventing suicide; and using technological innovations to improve behavioral health interventions. Fellows will join interdisciplinary project teams for ongoing experimental studies and randomized clinical trials, assist with manuscript and grant preparation, administer clinical assessment and treatment protocols to research participants, and be encouraged to apply for grant funding in their second year. Previous clinical and research experience in behavioral health is welcomed but not required. Versatility, the ability to interact effectively with others and to develop relationships in more than one area of health care are necessary. Individuals with doctoral degrees in psychology, nutrition, exercise science, public health, epidemiology, or related fields are welcome to apply. Salary is competitive with other postdoctoral fellow positions and includes benefits. Position slated to begin summer/fall of 2010.
