Melissa Augustine, MLIS

Melissa Augustine, MLIS (she/her/hers) is the educational and clinical services (ECS) and DEI librarian. Augustine supports student learning, research, and the integration of DEI principles into both the library and academic spaces. Prior to joining UMass Chan in October 2022, she completed her MLIS at Simmons University, with a concentration in knowledge organization systems in marginalized spaces. Prior to transitioning to health science librarianship, she spent fifteen years as a registered nurse in hospice and palliative care, intensive care and neurological/neurovascular care settings. With a strong interest in disability justice and neurodiversity, she has a interest in medical ethnography, health equity, and social justice-oriented instructional pedagogy. She received her undergraduate degree in gender and sexuality from the College of William and Mary, and a second bachelor's degree in science and nursing from Southern New Hampshire University.
