Evidence-Based Presentation Design

January 23 | 12:00-1:00pm

There are a lot of "rules" out there about how to design high-quality presentations. It turns out that we should ignore most of them! This session will cover theories from the education and cognitive psychology literature that should guide us instead. Participants will view examples relevant to the biomedical sciences and leave with practical tips for their own future presentations.

We hosted kids and adults from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for some hands-on science experiments. Our guest learners all had a great time, and left more interested in science than they were the day before! A huge shoutout to our volunteers – Sean Ryder, Leonora Martínez-Núñez, Lauren Intravaia, Krishna Anand, Peren Coskun, Jessica Chrabasz, Astrid Veloz Maury, Rinalda Proko, and Marina Krykbaeva! Thanks also to Kathy Drolet for her help coordinating everything and to Mary Pickering and ScienceLive! for providing volunteer training and microscopes.
