Peri-op Surgical Home
The Departments of Urology and Anesthesiology at UMass have partnered to create a pilot project entitled “Perioperative Surgical Home [PSH].” This is a project designed to improve the quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness of patient management around the time of surgery. It is a unique project that recently began and is a soup-to-nuts approach to coordinating care of urologic surgical patients from the time they are diagnosed with a condition that requires surgery all the way through recovery and recuperation. There are only a dozen such pilot programs nationally and the UMass project was initiated by Dr. Shubjeet Kaur, Professor and Chair of Anesthesiology. For now, this project is available to patients undergoing cancer-related surgery (prostatectomy, cystectomy, RPLND, and radical and partial nephrectomies) by Drs. Sokoloff and Yates.
For more information on the PSH project, please call us at (508) 334-1095.
