Rheumatology Medical Education

Undergraduate Medical Education

The division is heavily involved in all levels of medical education. Our faculty teach a variety of courses in the preclinical medical student curriculum, most notably the Musculoskeletal Block of the second-year Biology of Disease course.

3rd and 4th year medical students and residents are taught by Rheumatology faculty serving as attendings on the ward teaching and consult services.

Osteoporosis Education

Members of the osteoporosis program take part in:

  • Ongoing continuing medical education for our colleagues in primary care both within UMass Memorial Health and partner medical institutions locally

  • Contribution to both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education at UMass Chan Medical School

  • Contribution to national educational endeavors, e.g., American College of Rheumatology, Rheum2Learn module on Osteoporosis (aimed at Internal Medicine trainees)

Fellowship Program

The goal of our fellowship is to provide our trainees with a broad foundation in clinical rheumatology and the appropriate skills required to practice independently as an adult rheumatologist in an academic or private clinical setting.
