Chiefs' Welcome

As the chief resident of the UMass Psychiatry Residency Program, I would like to extend to you a warm welcome to our web page and to thank you for taking the time to learn more about our program.

Looking back, I’m very glad that I matched at UMass. Residency is a time of tremendous personal and professional growth, and I’m grateful to be in a program that takes an interest in who each resident is as an individual. With a strong core curriculum, accompanied by ample elective time to grow your unique interests, be it research or leadership, advocacy or teaching, you are encouraged to pursue your passions here.

The people at UMass are truly the greatest aspect of our program. Our faculty are very passionate about teaching trainees, both on the wards and in our didactic days. We benefit from strong mentors who pour their knowledge and support into each resident. And what a blast it has been to have spent the past four years with my incredibly smart and driven co-residents! We are a close-knit group and have a lot of fun. Many residents choose to continue working here after graduation—our program has a proud legacy of forming UMass “lifers”.

We are proud of our robust training experiences in public sector psychiatry and to practice in the safety net hospital of Central Massachusetts. We serve the wonderful community of Worcester (pronounced Wuss-Tah), New England’s second-largest city. Check out the residents’ bios to learn more about what we love about Worcester!

I wish you the best of luck with you application process. Please reach out with any questions, I would love the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for UMass with you.
