Overview

PDM trains clinicians and scientists to lead the integration of technology into care. Our trainees do not just study digital medicine; they staff and improve the clinical programs PDM supports, including Hospital at Home and the Digital Health Clinic.

Fellowship in Digital Medicine

Seven fellows have matriculated through the PDM fellowship to date. Fellows combine clinical practice with digital medicine scholarship, and have contributed to numerous publications and to the operation of new care models. Fellowship director: Neil Marya, MD. [Link to application.]

Predoctoral and postdoctoral training

PDM hosts predoctoral scholars, residency scholars, and postdoctoral fellows across interdisciplinary projects in clinical decision support, remote monitoring and mobile health, and pragmatic digital studies. Five trainees have been awarded T32 or TL1 fellowships (CODER, Cardiovascular T32, CCTS TL1). The CODER T32 is one of the nation's first NIH-funded postdoctoral training programs in digital medicine.

workshops and seminars

Innovation at UMass quarterly seminar: round-table discussions of specific ways digital technology is being applied in clinical practice with PDM support, moderated by PDM with clinical partners doing most of the talking. Topics include the Digital Health Clinic, the e-frailty index, Vision AI in GI, and hospital-at-home risk stratification.
OBIWON (Overcoming Barriers In Work Ongoing): a working conference where faculty, staff, and trainees bring in-progress work for constructive feedback.
