Top 10 Reasons to Precept UMass Third Year Family Medicine Clerkship Students
10 - Teaching medical students keeps you current.
9 - Free library access through UMass to many databases including
(i.e., Up-to-Date, MD Consult, DynaMed, 5-Minute Clinical Consult).
8 - 20 hours of AAFP CME/year for teaching medical students.
7 - $1,000 honoraria for each medical student you precept per 5 week rotation.
6 - Free live online access to weekly UMass Family Medicine Grand Rounds (an additional 40 hours of Category 1 CME).
5 - Free half day A.B.F.M SAM Seminar.
4 - Students are IT whizzes! Let them show you the latest apps used in patient care.

General Organization
- Students spend ~19 days/5 week block in your office
- Students can assist ancillary staff or visit community resources
- Students should see 3-4 patients per session (6-8 per day)
- Students should write up at least one note per session (2 per day)
- Students are responsible for their own housing / transportation
- A home visit assignment is encouraged but no longer mandatory
