3. What we learned about improving chronic pain care: Results of the DFMCH HSRA Residency Pain Grant -

We will present findings from the 3 year grant on improving residency training in chronic pain management. Carole will report on the pre-post chart audits and patient satisfaction data collected; Gerry will talk about implementation challenges and what residents said; Alison will report how the tools worked in her practice and what she learned.

Things You Should Know about Research in our Department:

This session will provide a brief update about current PBRN projects and research opportunities, a departmental process to facilitate requests to conduct research in our practice sites, and a new process for requesting departmental research support. We’ll also learn a bit about the scope of research being conducted at ForHealth Consulting and the Center for Health Policy Research.

2. Current Status and Future Directions in Family Medicine Maternity Care -

 This session will include a review of the current status of the Dept's Maternity Care providers and delivery volume. Feedback obtained from providers attending the 2009 retreat session on dept maternity care will be shared. With this as background, we will then work as a group to discuss future directions for increased collaboration between practices to provide inpatient maternity care coverage. A model of long-term institutionalized department support to assist with inpatient maternity care coverage will be presented.
