Dr. Teresita Padilla-Benavides receives NNI Collaborative Seed Funding

Dr. Teresita Padilla-Benavides receives the NeuroNexus Institute (NNI) Collaborative Seed Funding and her project title is "Investigating novel mechanisms of Cu transport by a phosphate transporter and its participation in SOD1 maturation in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis".

The NNI at UMMS was built on the institution’s tremendous strengths to unlock the mysteries of the brain and is known as an “institute without walls” by featuring an interconnected consortium of researchers from various UMMS departments and programs.  The NNI Collaborative Seed Funding initiative seeks to establish collaborations between faculty that will promote pioneering scientific discoveries and develop innovative technologies, with the long-term goal of making the NNI in a national center of excellence in Neuroscience research.

Congratulations, Dr. Padilla-Benavides!
