BMB Social Activities

Science is challenging, and at times our research projects can be frustrating and discouraging. For this reason, we believe it is critical to promote a supportive environment in the BMB department. Social bonds lead to increased work and life satisfaction, which in turn lead to bigger and more creative scientific discoveries1. One component of such an environment is social activity, which allows individuals to build bonds with their peers and get their minds off science.     The Biochemistry & Molecular Biotechnology Department (BMB) faculty sponsored a trip for the department to Polar Park to watch the Woo Sox play. Despite the weather, we had a great time building community and engaging in the local culture of Worcester, MA.

    The BMB departments of both UMass Chan and UMass Amherst congregated at UMass Chan for our annual joint retreat. The Biochemistry & Molecular Biotechnology (BMB) department hosted the day, which included seminars, poster presentations, and a pie eating contest!
