Funded by the Massachusetts Life Science Initiative, the Massachusetts NMR consortium leads the field in ____ and is the best because ____. Housed within the Biochemistry & Molecular Biotechnology Department at UMass Chan and the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology Department at UMass Amherst, our scientists are leaders in the field of structure determination and structural dynamics.
The NMR Consortium Core provides access to instrumentations to study the structure, dynamics, interaction, and organization of molecules. This core supports researchers to use NMR spectroscopy to obtain a full view of a biomolecule in near physiological solution.
Applications of NMR spectrosscopy include:
- Structure determination of biomacromolecules
- Characterization of the dynamics of biomacromolecules
- Characterization of ligand binding and molecular interactions
- Fragment based drug discovery
- Hit validation
The facility currently houses a Bruker 800 MHz spectrometer equipped with a sample autoloader and a cryoprobe. The core offer the biomedical research community access to state-of-the-art NMR spectroscopic methods for studying biomacromolecules in solution. x
