Brief Bio

Dr. Capri graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Neurobiology. She was part of a research project at Schepens Eye Research Institute which sparked her interest in eye care. This interest grew following her time working with The Carroll Center for the Blind where she developed a passion for low vision rehabilitation- a specialty focused on working with legally blind and visually impaired patients. She graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois, and went on to complete her residency training in Low Vision and Ocular Disease at the West Haven Veterans Hospital. Following residency, she spent time in private practice before heading back to academic medicine with a goal to teach others. 

In addition to her faculty position at the UMass Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, she holds adjunct faculty positions at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences School of Optometry and the New England College of Optometry.  More recently, her passion for the many connections between health care and law led her to complete her law degree at Suffolk University Law School. In her free time, she enjoys fostering rescue animals, teaching group fitness classes, and cooking recipes from scratch.
