Thanksgiving Comes Early at the Eye Center

Date Posted: Monday, October 25, 2021

Each year, the team at UMass Memorial Eye Center gathers to thoughtfully fill dozens of mugs with delicious chocolates and handwritten notes of thanks from Shlomit Schaal, MD, PhD, MHCM, President of UMass Memorial Medical Group and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. They then package them up and ship them off to their friends across UMass Memorial Health and UMass Chan Medical School who have shown their support for the department throughout the year. The Eye Center designs a new mug for the occasion each year. This year, the sharp, black and orange mug features the words “Focused on the Future,” which is their mantra as they head into 2022!

“This is my favorite day of the year,” said Dr. Schaal. “Showing gratitude is so important to building a culture of positivity and it feels so good. And as we focus on our future and all of the exciting growth that lies ahead for the Eye Center in the coming year, it is our friends, who we are so grateful for, who will help us be successful in all our endeavors.”

Happy Chocolate Day, everyone!
