Eye Team Forges Strong Relationship at Department Picnic

Dozens of Eye Team members from the UMass Memorial Eye Center and the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences at UMass Chan Medical School gathered together for a team celebration Sunday, August 29 at Dean Park in Shrewsbury. Two worlds united as caregivers brought their at-home families out to enjoy the beautiful day with their beloved Eye Team family. Laughter could be heard from across the fields as colleagues met one another’s spouses, partners and young children. Friendly cornhole competitions and joyous conversations erupted throughout the day while partygoers enjoyed a delicious luncheon and desserts.

“It was wonderful to have the opportunity to safely bring everyone together and say thank you for all that they do,” said Shlomit Schaal, MD, PhD, MCHM, President, UMass Memorial Medical Group, and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. “This is a team that genuinely enjoys spending time with one another. The strong relationships we have outside of the hospital setting positively impact the care we provide our patients. These are wonderful people. I’m so proud of the team we’ve built.”
