Dr. Schaal Delivers Keynote Talk at Marshall University School of Medicine

Dr. Schaal was invited to give a keynote talk “An Eye on Leadership and Transformation” in an academic conference focused on professional development of women in medicine and science at Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia.

Participants included medical students, faculty members, clinicians, scientists, and administrators at the school of medicine. Dr. Schaal, a graduate of the ELAM (Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine) program, said: “there is extensive research to indicate that leadership skills can be taught, learned, and adopted, therefore it is pertinent to teach young women these capabilities, so they become ready to be included in the future leadership of our academic institutions.”
