Dr. Mark Johnson Discusses Vitreo-Retinal Interface Pathology

Mark Johnson, MD, Professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan was the honorable guest speaker of November’s Vision Seminar.

Dr. Johnson is a world-renowned vitreo-retinal surgeon and a thought leader who serves on the editorial board of the journal Retina, the editorial board of the American Journal of Ophthalmology. Most recently, he served as the president of the Retina Society and as a member of the planning committee of the Retina Subspecialty Day of the American Academy of Ophthalmology 2018 annual meeting.

Dr. Johnson discussed the current understanding of the evolution, the pathogenesis and the modern treatment options of vitreomacular disorders. He summarized various clinical investigations, which have looked into the causes of macular hole, vitreomacular traction syndromes, epiretinal membrane, and myopia associated maculopathy by using advanced retinal imaging.
