Congratulations to Dr. Misha Faustina for completing the UMMS Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP)
Date Posted: Tuesday, June 19, 2018The JFDP is designed to accelerate the academic and professional development of junior faculty. Sponsored by the Office of Faculty Affairs, the year-long program is an intensive professional development experience for junior faculty designed to empower them and facilitate their success in academic medicine. Developed at Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine by Robert Milner, PhD and Luanne Thorndyke, MD, it is regarded as a national model for the development of junior faculty in academic medicine.
Dr.’s Milner and Thorndyke launched the program at UMass Chan Medical School in 2010. “The Junior Faculty Development Program at UMass Chan Medical School has a proven and measurable record of success, both for junior faculty and for the institution,” said Dr. Thorndyke. “These graduates are the future leaders of UMMS and academic medicine.”
Dr. Faustina’s faculty mentor throughout the year has been Dawn (Ty) Fraga, PhD from the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. “Ty has been a fantastic mentor for me,” said Dr. Faustina. “Her knowledge of the ACGME application process and curriculum development has been invaluable… participating in JFDP has been the single best source of encouragement and support in my new position.”
