Autoimmune Retinopathy: Tackling the Challenges in Diagnosis and Treatment

Dr. Lucia Sobrin, Charles Edward Professor of Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary of Harvard Medical School spoke about “Tackling the Challenges in Diagnosis and Treatment of Autoimmune Retinopathy”. Autoimmune retinopathy is challenging to diagnosis because there are few reliable biomarkers of the disease. Dr. Sorbin explained how other possible diagnosis must be carefully ruled out and spoke about the pitfalls to avoid in diagnosing this condition, particularly as it relates to anti-retinal antibody testing. She also spoke about her group’s research in improving the diagnosis and treatment of this condition.
