Community Relations

UMass Chan is committed to positively impacting its surrounding community. We do this by supporting community programs and initiatives that advance the interests of both the medical school and the community by donations of in-kind services, volunteerism, and assisting and co-hosting various community events. The spirit of engagement that exists at UMass Chan is impressive. As an institution, we are deeply committed to enriching the surrounding communities.

In 2015, the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching reclassified UMass Chan Medical School as a community engaged institution.  The Carnegie award is a five-year designation and we have since reapplied for reclassification.  At the time, UMass Chan was the only stand-alone medical school to recieve such honors.
