In June of 2023, UMass Chan Medical School celebrates its 50th Commencement. Since the first 16 medical students graduated in 1973, the school has grown in ways one could only have imagined. Marked by many moments of significance, the institution has become a top ranked medical school and a research powerhouse.
The cover story for the spring 2023 issue of @umasschan magazine captures a handful of the moments that have contributed to UMass Chan’s remarkable trajectory and set it on a course for continued success.
The magazine, produced by the Office of Communications, also includes a feature about how physicians and scientists at UMass Chan are harnessing the power and promise of digital medicine; highlights students who are contributing to the institution’s mission through public service; and introduces the executive vice provost for innovation and business development, who is looking for creative ways to connect UMass Chan science with the business community.
