UMass Chan vaccination requirement for visitors, vendors and contractors

On August 10, UMass Medical School announced a COVID-19 vaccination requirement for all UMMS faculty and staff, in addition to its previously announced student requirement. Today we are writing to reiterate that this requirement also applies to all vendors, visitors, and contractors who access medical school facilities.

As soon as possible, departmental contract and vendor managers should inform their vendors and contractors of this vaccination requirement and share this memo with them.

Credentialed vendors and contractors who have UMMS-issued ID badges should visit the UMMS Parking Office, where they will show proof of vaccination and be given a green dot to affix to their ID badge. As with UMMS faculty, staff and students, the presence of a green dot on a UMMS ID badge signals to those around you that you are vaccinated. All vendors and contractors who fail to provide proof of vaccination by October 8 will have their ID badge deactivated and will not be allowed access to school facilities.

Visitors, vendors, and contractors who do not have a UMMS-issued ID badge must be sponsored by a UMMS employee via the SV3 system. Please advise all visitors, vendors and contractors you sponsor that they must bring their SV3 invitation, their driver’s license and COVID-19 vaccination card. These documents will be reviewed prior to the issuance of a daily pass. Any visitor, vendor or contractor who is unable to provide these documents upon arrival to campus will not be allowed to access school facilities.

To be compliant by October 8, individuals must receive their doses by the following dates:

Pfizer: two doses 21 days apart, first dose no later than Sept. 14

Moderna: two doses 28 days apart, first dose by Sept. 7

Johnson & Johnson: one dose no later than October 8

For questions about the UMMS vaccination requirement, please contact theresa.kane@umassmed.edu. To schedule a shot, visit https://vaxfinder.mass.gov/. For questions about COVID-19 vaccines, see https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/your-vaccination.html or contact your healthcare provider.

Those who have already received a different vaccine series outside of the United States should email a copy of the vaccine record to theresa.kane@umassmed.edu. A determination will be made by Infection Control as to whether additional doses of vaccine may be required.

We thank you for your attention to these important steps, which will help protect the health and safety of those on campus. Please share this information with the vendors, visitors and contractors with whom you work.
