Telegram: UMass Medical School Anatomical Gift Program sees increase in donations

UMass Medical School’s Anatomical Gift Program has received an increase in donations, according to an Aug. 26 article in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

"Overall, we do have a higher donation rate,” Amanda J. Collins, director of anatomic services in the Anatomical Gift Program, told the Telegram. "A lot of that is outreach.”

The rate of donations has varied over the past several years, but has risen about 45 percent overall since 2010, with 112 donations this year.

Collins said she is planning her outreach efforts to further expand the program, which has registered more than 6,000 potential donors and has accepted more than 2,200 whole body donations since its inception in 1970.
