The main focus of our lab is to understand why people with diabetes have a difficult time with wound healing, particularly foot ulcers. She is interested in knowing why they are prone to infection.

MD/PhD Program - University of Utah School of Medicine
Focused on developing a translational research model for neurodegenerative disorders. Joined Dr. Janet Shaw’s laboratory, a leader in Saccharomyces cerevisiae mitochondrial dynamics and trafficking. By leveraging the Shaw lab expertise in mitochondrial movement, I was the first to demonstrate that mitochondrial movement and distribution defects lead to mammalian neuronal degeneration.
Residency Program - UMass Chan Medical School
During my integrated vascular surgery residency training, I pursued research with a clinical focus to develop an understanding of clinically relevant questions in vascular surgery. My clinical research focused on both understanding the technical treatment challenges for aortic aneurysms, and diabetes.
