Date Posted: Monday, October 09, 2017

Michael Volkert, PhD (Department of Microbiology and Physiological Systems) and Hemant Khanna, PhD (Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences) of UMass Chan Medical School have been awarded a joint grant from the International Retina Research Foundation (IRRF).

This grant will allow the investigators to develop new strategies to reduce oxidative stress in photoreceptors, which will help delay the progression of photoreceptor degeneration in blinding diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic retinopathy, and retinitis pigmentosa.
