Dr. Lam Presents Three Unsung Heroes in Ophthalmology

Andrew Lam, M.D., is a retinal surgeon and award-winning author of three books: Saving Sight, an Amazon bestseller about his surgical career, Two Sons of China, a novel of WWII that won a Foreword Reviews' Book of Year Award in 2014, and his latest novel, Repentance, based on the history of the famed Japanese American 442nd Regimental Combat Team of WWII.

His writing has appeared in The New York Times and The Washington Post. Originally from central Illinois, he earned a degree in history from Yale before attending medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by residency and fellowship at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He is currently a partner with New England Retina Consultants, and an attending surgeon at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.

In his fascinating Vision Seminar he examined the remarkable contributions of three unsung heroes: Dr. Harold Ridley, Dr. Charles Kelman, and Louis Braille. All three endured severe ridicule and scorn for their new ideas, which ultimately changed the way we see and benefitted all of mankind.
