Bev Nazarian, MD - Kelley House Mentor

fournierBev Nazarian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. She grew up outside of Boston in Arlington and then ventured to Minnesota, where she attended Carleton College for undergrad and then the University of Minnesota for medical school after a year off. She moved a bit closer to home to complete her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and then came to UMass, where she has been practicing pediatric primary care in the Benedict Building ever since.

When not seeing patients, Bev directs the community-based continuity clinic for pediatric residents, as well as their advocacy experiences, as part of the pediatric residency leadership team. She is the school physician consultant for Worcester Public Schools, and the physician champion for the medical-legal partnership between UMass Memorial and Community Legal Aid. She precepts medical students at all levels (LPP, 3rd year clerkship, FCEs, primary care electives), as well as pediatric residents for their continuity clinic.

In addition to medical education, Bev’s  primary academic interests are advocacy, children with special health care needs, pediatric mental and behavioral health, and school health. She is passionate about getting residents and other learners out into Worcester and about the importance of partnering with schools and community agencies.

Outside of work she enjoys cooking (and eating), planning trips, reading, swimming, chocolate, and the ocean. She lives in Natick with her husband, son, and cat. She also has two adult step-daughters (one of whom is a current Kelley Roo!).
