UMMS Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry

General Information

  • For academic year 2021-2022:
    • Application time: applications are best submitted by May 1st prior to the fellowship year
    • Interviews in June with no binding response prior to Nov 1st

  • Visa sponsorship: J1 (and possibly B1).

  • Start date: July 1st (negotiable under certain circumstances) 

Application Requirements

  • (1) Satisfy:
    • Applicants must have at least completed the requirements of an ACGME accredited general psychiatry residency at the time of the start of the fellowship year.
    • Obtain a Massachusetts Independent license by the start date.

  • (2) Documents to send:
    • General application form
      (AAPL application guidelines, common application checklist)
    • Three letters of recommendation (including one from program director), sent directly from the individual who completed the letter.
    • Two redacted writing samples (preferably at least one forensic report, but could also include discharge summary, admission assessment, journal article)
    • Personal statement
    • USMLE scores, and USMLE certificate when applicable
    • Medical diploma
