Volunteers from UMass Chan Medical School dispersed across Worcester County on Friday, Sept. 16, to participate in the 29th  annual United Way of Central Massachusetts’ Day of Caring.

Twenty volunteers assisted with fall clean-up, maintenance and organizing projects at Pernet Family Health Service and Girls Inc. in Worcester, Veterans Inc.’s Independence Hall in Shrewsbury, and the YWCA Central Massachusetts’ Camp Wind-in-the-Pines in Leicester.

Lauren Orsillo, program manager in the Office of Well-Being, was among the UMass Chan volunteers at Pernet Family Health Service.

“Volunteering is a really important piece of the Office of Well-Being,” Orsillo said. “We’re all doing this as a team together to spend quality time together and give back to our community.”

Volunteers at Pernet put fresh paint on walls in offices, hallways, and stairways, and along the exterior of the building at the corner of Millbury and Seymour Streets.
