Opioid Use Disorder and Pregnancy

The following information provides an overview of medication treatments for opioid use disorder (OUD) that are safe and effective for pregnant women, as well as links to support resources in Massachusetts for pregnant women with OUD.

This fact sheet provides information on common questions pregnant women with opioid use disorder have regarding treatment, options, and resources.

Massachusetts also has another comprehensive online support tool called the Massachusetts Journey Recovery Project. The Journey Project support tool was created specifically for pregnant women with OUD and other substance use disorders to help them learn about their options, find treatment, and get answers to a wide range of questions.  It was developed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Addiction Services (BSAS) and the Institute for Health and Recovery and the Center for Social Innovation.
