Research Focus - Cell Biology of Aggressive Carcinomas: Mechanisms and Therapy

  • Examination of mechanisms that sustain cancer stem cells (CSCs)
  • Characterization of non-cell autonomous regulation of CSCs
  • Understanding the role of integrins and the extracellular matrix in CSCs and aggressive behavior
  • Elucidation of the non-angiogenic functions of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptors (neuropilins) on CSCs
  • Therapeutic targeting of neuropilins
  • Study of the cell biology of ferroptosis and development of its therapeutic potential
