  • Zachary Binder

    Zachary Binder, MD

    Assistant Professor, Director Pediatric Ultrasound

    Zachary Binder, MD is a pediatric emergency medicine physician and the Director of pediatric ultrasound. He completed a pediatric residency at NYU/Bellevue, pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Boston Medical Center, and ultrasound fellowship at Brown. His primary areas of research include ultrasound guided nerve blocks, resident education, and advanced cardiac ultrasound.

  • Romolo Gaspari

    Romolo Gaspari, MD, PhD

    Professor, Executive Vice Chair of Emergency Medicine
    Romolo Gaspari, MD, PhD is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Executive Vice Chair for Academic and Faculty Development. He started the Ultrasound Program at UMASS Memorial Medical center in 2000 and the Ultrasound Fellowship shortly afterwards. He has been involved in developing bedside ultrasound nationally, most notably by founding both the Society of Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships (SCUF) and the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Accreditation Council (EUFAC). He has been active in research for years, with over 1 million in NIH funding and publication of over 50 manuscripts on various topics in ultrasound including renal colic, fluid management, soft tissue infection and cardiac arrest and is the founder and has been principal investigator of REASON, a large 40-site beside ultrasound research collaborative.
  • Timothy Gleeson

    Timothy Gleeson, MD

    Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine Emergency Ultrasound Division Director

    Timothy Gleeson, MD is and Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Emergency Ultrasound Division Director. He manages ultrasound education and clinical ultrasound activities at each of the five UMass EM campuses. His interests are ultrasound education and research in local and international settings. Outside of work, he spends time with his family.

  • Michael Hill

    Michael Hill, MD

    Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine

    Michael Hill, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and member of the Emergency Ultrasound Division. He completed his fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at UMass and since joining the faculty has been active in medical student and resident ultrasound education and research.

  • Robert Lindsay

    Robert Lindsay, MD

    Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Director

    Robert Lindsay, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and the Fellowship Director of Emergency Ultrasound. His academic interests include ultrasound-guided resuscitation, cardiac ultrasound, procedural ultrasound, and medical education. Dr. Lindsay is a regular instructor at regional ultrasound courses such as the Massachusetts College of Emergency Physicians (MACEP) Ultrasound Course and is on the board of directors at the Society of Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships (SCUF). He was awarded the Hidden Figures Award by SCUF in 2020 for his contributions to the organization.

  • Monica Kapoor

    Monica Kapoor, MD

    Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine

    Monica Kapoor, MD is a clinical Associate Professor and joined UMass two years ago after being in New York for many years. Currently, she is leading the ED Ultrasound Workflow project and also the Medical Student Clerkship in Emergency Ultrasound. Her interests include medical student teaching, Diversity Equity and Inclusion in the medical field and Ultrasound workflow. Outside of work she loves to travel and spend time with her family.

  • Ari Nalbandian

    Ari Nalbandian, MD

    Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine

    Ari Nalbandian, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and member of the Emergency Ultrasound Division. He completed his fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at UMass and since joining the faculty has been active in medical student and resident ultrasound education and research. He is the Ultrasound site director at the Marlboro campus.

  • David Polan

    David Polan, MD

    Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine

    David Polan, MD is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and fellowship-trained in Emergency Ultrasound. Within the division he is an integral component of resident and fellowship education, quality assurance, and ongoing research. He is the Ultrasound site director at the Memorial campus. He prides himself on individualized hands-on instruction at the bedside tailored to the user's specific needs and ability. Additional interests include Wilderness Medicine, and outside of the hospital he can be found challenging mind and body climbing, skiing, and cycling year-round.
