Research opportunities
Drs. Waqas Qureshi and Colleen Harrington, Associate Program Directors, guide fellows through the process of finding a mentor and executing one or more scholarly projects. In the past, fellows have completed research projects in the following areas:
- Outcomes research
- Noninvasive Imaging
- Electrophysiology
- Interventional Cardiology
- Basic and translational research
- Quality improvement
Most fellows start their projects during their first year. Up to six months may be dedicated to research within the fellowship's three year period. However, most fellows choose to engage in research throughout their fellowship rather than wait for dedicated research blocks.
Fellows are encouraged to submit abstracts to national meetings such as AHA, ACC, HRS, TCT and SCAI. The Division offers financial support to those who are presenting at national meetings. Prior to each meeting, fellows present their abstracts to the division and receive constructive feedback from faculty and peers.
