Greetings and welcome to the UMass Cancer Center!

I have the extraordinary privilege and honor of leading an incredible team of world-class physicians, health care professionals and scientists at the UMass Cancer Center. We are committed to advancing cancer care, research and prevention, and to training the next generation of cancer researchers and doctors. 

Cancer treatments have come a long way. Twenty years ago, we were principally treating cancers with toxic agents that killed all cells, and we just hoped they killed cancer cells a little more effectively than normal cells. Now we treat cancers much more based on their specific vulnerabilities using precision medicine, which involves taking a patient, understanding their particular tumor and figuring out what the best combination of agents is to treat it.

The UMass Cancer Center is at the forefront of bench to bedside cancer research. Our bold discoveries are changing the future of cancer treatment and care for patients today and generations to come.
