Eligibility Criteria
Organizations can partner with the UMass Chan AI Assurance Lab to receive expert support in the Model Assessment and Evaluation phase of their AI projects. To be considered eligible to partner with the Health AI Assurance Laboratory, a company must:
- Be located in the United States.
- Comply with federal regulations throughout the development and deployment of AI systems, ensuring proper documentation of compliance with laws including but not limited to HIPAA or FDA standards.
- Establish a bias management framework to evaluate fairness and equity throughout their system's lifecycle.
- Have governance structures in place, ensuring independent reviews of AI solutions to meet ethical standards and maintain high-quality outcomes.
- Have privacy and security protocols in place to protect data confidentiality, integrity, and compliance with regulations, ensuring personal data is safeguarded.
- Be willing to share the training data set with the Health AI Assurance Laboratory team to undergo bias analysis and system replication within the UMass ecosystem.
- Not be part of, associated with, or engaged in collaborative work with UMass incubators, including but not limited to the Center for Advancing Point of Care Technologies (CAPCaT) and the Massachusetts Medical Device Development Center (M2D2) so as to maintain the integrity of an independent assessment process.
